Overview

We’re looking for a detailed, reliable, and hands-on individual to lead our accounting team as we continue to utilize the NetSuite ERP/accounting system! Your contribution will have an impact throughout our organization as this role is essential to our long-term capitalization efforts, efficiency goals and overall strategy.

In this role, you will manage a supporting staff of two and be responsible for our accounting operations. You'll work closely with our CEO, third party financial advisor and other leaders in the organization.

We believe this role will appeal to someone looking to develop and grow as a leader. You will be actively involved in creating standards and best practices for our team and vendors. We’ll count on you to maintain an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls designed to enhance our accuracy and mitigate risks. This is an exciting and dynamic role!

Responsibilities
  1. Perform month-end close tasks including preparation of general ledger entries, analysis and completion of corporate Balance Sheet and P&L reports.
  2. Prepare GL reconciliation schedules – reviewing GL and trial balances and supporting month-end balances
  3. Reconcile bank and credit card activity using software solutions such as Expensify and other tools that integrate with NetSuite
  4. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures/policies
  5. Produce and administer the payroll process and HR support
  6. Actively maintain Accounts Payable, prepare checks to be signed and disburse payments as necessary in a timely manner
  7. Issue 1099s and work with outside CPA and financial advisory firm to file sales, income and franchise tax returns
  8. Some office administration duties as needed
  9. Contribute with internal and external reporting requirements
  10. Maintain and further develop our documented system of accounting policies and mapping for standard operating procedures and transactions
Qualifications
  • Four-year BA/BS Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
  • 3+ years’ accounting experience with Enterprise ERP software such as NetSuite (preferred), Oracle, SAP, Sage or similar.
  • US GAAP understanding
  • Good with software programs
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel (eg. Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc) and experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Bonus Qualifications
  • E-commerce interface experience with: Magento, PayPal, eBay, and Amazon
  • CPA/CFA/CMA certification
  • MBA with Accounting or Finance focus
  • Expert in Excel with experience using external data sources (eg. BI/reporting data)

Working Conditions
Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. Will be expected to travel as needed to company subsidiaries, as well as to potential acquirees to conduct due diligence. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic intervals throughout the day. May require reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting of files, computer printouts, and merchandise on occasion. We love audio and this job will require you to be exposed to an abundance of loud noises from speakers and other fantastic audio producing equipment.
