HR Generalist Overview
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, professional and high-integrity individual to help grow our team in a multitude of ways. Besides instilling awesome in all you do, you’ll lead our hiring and recruiting process, work closely with executives to enrich our culture, and define career-paths for all our valued team members. You’ll administer policies related to labor laws and benefits, plan our perks and party programs – and much more!

In this role, you will ensure we are in compliance with all local, state and federal labor laws. You’ll work closely with various leaders to ensure performance evaluations and goals are well defined. Our Controller and CEO will count on you to use the allocated budgets for creating exciting company events and sweet perks. Your contribution will be felt throughout our organization as this role is essential to maintaining our culture as we add associates to our team.


Responsibilities

Personnel & Culture
1. Revise and update job descriptions to better align with company vision and goals
2. Schedule meetings and interviews to screen prospective team members as requested by various managers
3. Facilitate a solid recruitment and interview process, including follow-up at the end of the recruiting process
4. Work with various leaders to ensure department training is in place to allow for career growth
5. Answer general employee requests and questions related to HR
6. Ensure we offer perks that kick our competitors’ butts
7. Coordinate Monthly All-team meetings
8. Plan and execute team member events and parties that fit our budget and make everyone adore you!
9. Coordinate community and company events related to human resources and our company image (e.g. toy drives and fund-raisers)
10. Find daily banana runners – bananas have a lot of potassium!

Labor Laws & Policies
1. Ensure our company is in compliance with all local, state and federal labor laws
2. Administer health and welfare plans including enrollments, changes and terminations
3. Prepare new employee files and welcome packages that effectively and accurately describe the position, labor laws and company policies
4. Process documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping
5. Assist with new employee background checks and I-9 verification
6. Modify the employee handbook as necessary

Reporting & Records
1. Improve, track and report on metrics and success criteria for all Human Resource programs and activities
2. Schedule, administer, and analyze our quarterly and annual performance evaluations
3. Maintain personnel records for our California and Kentucky teams

Education & Skills Required
• Four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
• 3+ years’ hands-on progressively responsible experience in Human Resources
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Creative with a good sense of humor
• Experience with Applicant Tracking and Human Resource software
• Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel Experience – if you can’t format a document (your resume) or do a Pivot Table then this probably isn’t the job for you
• Enjoy handling multiple projects and tasks
• Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive issues • Ability to work independently and organize groups of people
• Detail oriented and organized
• Solid Microsoft Excel and Office skills
• Experienced presenter
• Very strong work ethic
• Technology-savvy with a good understanding of Computer Systems

Bonus Skills
• Passion for audio and consumer electronics
• Drive to discover and learn new technologies
• Experience in a Retail or E-Commerce organization

Working Conditions

Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment. Will be expected to travel as needed to company subsidiaries, as well as to potential acquirees to conduct due diligence. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected. Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic intervals throughout the day. May require reaching above shoulder height, below the waist or lifting to file documents or store materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting of files, computer printouts, and merchandise on occasion. We love audio and this job will require you to be exposed to an abundance of loud noises from speakers and other fantastic audio producing equipment.
